Motor Neurone Disease

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, which are responsible for controlling muscle movements.

As the disease progresses, muscles gradually weaken, stiffen, and waste away, leading to difficulties with movement. The impact of MND varies among individuals, with symptoms progressing at different rates. Although there is no cure and the disease continues to progress, physiotherapy and other support services can help improve the individual’s quality of life.

Physiotherapy can assist with carefully managed exercises, maintaining joint range of motion, proper positioning, walking adaptations, and devices to support daily activities.
