Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain. It leads to symptoms such as:
- Loss of balance
- Slower movements
- Difficulty moving the eyes
- Cognitive impairment
It is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia and Alzheimer’s. It is rare affecting approximately 6 per 100,000.
It typically affected males more than females and often aged 60-70 years.
Physiotherapy can assist with gait and balance problems to maximise functional ability and minimise the risk of falls. Walking aids may be required to help individuals remain as independent as possible.
Occupational therapy can assist with adaptations as and when required whilst Speech therapy will help monitor and manage speech and swallow difficulties.

"Incredible team, I’ve been going to LV for 6/7 months now, they’ve made me achieve my goals and beyond after suffering a stroke I lost all movement in my left side. Thanks to roberto and other team members I’m walking unaided and now focusing on my hand and arm. Every week I discover a new ability that I never thought I’d ever be able to do again. I’ll forever be thankful to LV and the team for giving me my life back."
