Will Howford
Physiotherapist, Lead for Case Managed Clients
Will studied Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2014. After graduating Will initially gained experience in the NHS rotating around specialties and moving round the country to work within a variety of teams. This included time working at the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the Central England Rehabilitation Unit for Brain Injuries. He then moved into the Charity sector to work with the Fire Fighters Charity before starting at LV.
Will has a keen interest in all things rehabilitation. He is a big believer in exercise and its benefits. Not only the physical but the psychological. He has seen firsthand how confidence has grown within a home or gym environment. In turn his patients have taken this away from sessions and got out into the world, completing activities meaningful to them. This not only improved mood but brought further additional physical benefits.
Will tends to run his sessions to the creed of ‘high intensity, high work rate’ within each patient’s ability. With the complexity of cases seen at LV this gives each person the best opportunity of reaching their potential. Will brings a lot of fun and creativity to his sessions by using the goals of his clients to guide where their rehabilitation needs to go. You will regularly hear him say ‘Physiotherapy exercises are boring, but they are crucial’. He is therefore always keen to bring the fun to his sessions by adding music, games or a little competition to keep things fresh and interesting.
In his spare time Will can usually be found in the gym or running around on the South Downs. He is a passionate traveller and usually has a trip booked somewhere. When he’s relaxing, he’s either reading a book or watching sport, mostly football.
